Our developers have just put the last code change to the Java Online test, enabling it to multi-thread the process.

As of today, instead of 100 or so URLS tested in two minutes, the test can now achieve 1000+.
Which means the result is much more precise, having covered a larger number of malicious domains.

As a reminder of how our test works:

What we are looking for:
Malware-Control aims at finding whether malware existing in your network could reach out of your network, through your security layers, and send private data to their Command & Control (C&C) servers.

What we test:
The Safe Network Scan tries do find out wether C&Cl servers are accessible from within your network.

How we test:
A java application will test a large number of C&C domains. If reachable, it calculates a MD5 sum of the page. This MD5 is then compared with our the MD5 we have calculated for the page. If a match is found, it means the C&C is reachable.. To reliable results, the list and MD5 calculations are refreshed every 30 minutes on our servers.

Limits of the test:
We do not know if malwares are in your network. If you do not have malwares in your network, C&C servers could be reachable, no data is stolen.
We only show a security threat. However, knowing that more than 30% of enterprise computers are infected by at least 1 malware, the threat is very real.
If a page changes between our MD5 calculation and the time of your test, the C&C will appear as being correctly blocked (MD5 difference), when actually it is not.

Safety & Security:
We do not download any executable files, and have filtered all dangerous domains. THe MD5 calculation is executed within the Java virtual machine.

Happy testing, and share your results with us!
